Kawuki ‘Roger’ Sali Re-Signs with Birds of Condor

Kawuki ‘Roger’ Sali Re-Signs with Birds of Condor

We’re absolutely stoked to announce the legend himself, Kawuki ‘Roger’ Sali, has re-signed as a brand ambassador for Birds of Condor.

We took this opportunity to sit down with Roger, for sneak a peek into his daily life and the soul behind the camera. Roger's dropped some sweet nuggets of wisdom and some curiously unexpected answers to our rapid-fire questions.

Joining Roger on his journey over the last 12 months has been nothing but magic. He’s got an unwavering passion for spreading the joy of golf to all those around him and the global audience he has naturally engaged watching from afar. He isn’t just playing golf, he’s committed to growing the game in the purest of ways. Having fun, getting communities involved and making his world, and the people around him, happier by stripping it back to basics.

Though you might think Roger spends the majority of his days on the green, it turns out that following his 4am wake-up routine, he’s straight off to local schools and communities to teach children about golf, through demonstrations, practical lessons and a whole lot of smiles.

It’s in his spare time when he gets around to hitting the course. When asked about his hometown, Roger shared with us that most people still don’t know much, if anything, about golf. Which is a huge motivation for him.

We also caught up with Co-Founder and Creative Director of Birds, Frankie Kimpton, to get his take on the partnership… and he kinda spilled a little secret:

"As for the future, we’re just getting started with our commitment to Roger. Together we are creating some sick threads that will see the launch of Roger’s first apparel collection in partnership with Birds. He might even be jumping on a plane to head down under for the launch…
percentage of all these sales will go directly to Roger. Continuing our support on this additional level is such a great feeling, and is helping us form the foundations of our broader community program."

You heard right!

Coming 2024

Birds of Condor X ROGER SALI

Needless to say, we’re all pretty damn pumped about it! It’s always been a dream of Roger’s to be able to support himself and his family while doing what he loves and empowering others. Since growing his profile over the last 12 months he’s been able to do just that, paying for his siblings tuition and becoming somewhat of a local hero. The Birds X Roger Sali collaboration will help him pursue that vision even further:

“This [collaboration] means a lot to me and I hope will also inspire more kids and people to focus on their dreams.”

Roger’s other goal for this collab, or perhaps a side mission for those playing at home, is to have his coach Nick form slomo swing library and superstar Minwoolee, rock his threads. You’re all going to have to help us make that happen.

Let’s dive into our rapid-fire round with Roger:

Q: If you could teleport to any golf course right now, which one would it be?
A: St Andrews for sure.

Q: One thing you’re dying to cross off your bucket list in the next year?
A: I want to finish my PGA course.

Q: If you had to rename ‘golf’ what would you call it?
A: Hard.

Q: This is the final Putt to win the Masters at Augusta. You’re 20ft out and can choose one golfer dead or alive to take the putt, who’s it going to be?
A: That's me if I have the right line.

Q: What’s that one hype song that gets you pumped up to play golf?
A: I Believe by Asake

Q: Favourite golf movie scene?
A: When Happy Gilmore could hit it really far.

Q: If you were stranded on a desert island and could only have three items, what would they be?
A: Water, tent and compass.

Q: Pineapple on pizza? Yay or Nay?
A: Nay.

Q: Would you rather putt with a driver or drive with a putter?
A: Putt with a driver.

Q: If you could have any superpower just for a day, what would it be?
A: Hit the driver 400 yards.
Q: Dream magazine to be featured on the cover of?
A: Forbes.

Q: What’s your random skill or party trick?
A: I think I can dance, hahah!

Q: If you could have a meal with any golfer (past or present), who would it be and why?
A: That would be Scottie Scheffler because he is a good iron player and I struggle with them so he could give me some good tips.

We’re thrilled to have Roger flapping around with the Birds team for another year and we can’t wait to launch the first Birds x Roger Sali collection in 2024, not to mention getting Roger out here to launch it!!
